In Session FKA GRADJOB the name came from Stephano Harney and Fred Moten’s 2013 book The Undercommons: Fugitive Planning & Black Study. They see being ‘in study’ as a practice of spending time together, a collective desire for sharing of ideas and histories that does not lead to an expected outcome and that creates a debt to each other that should never be repaid.
